My parents arrived in the city on Friday, which can only mean one thing – wine and cheese! (And chips and guacamole … just because we all love ‘em)
This time, we were hosting in our new apartment (which they all LOVED, by the way – we really were living in a hell hole before, so anything would have been better, but this is WAAAAAAY better) – and so I got to make the executive snack decisions. What did I get?
Besides the aforementioned chips and guacamole (again – didn’t go with the rest, we all just love it!), we snacked on: rice crackers and sharp cheddar cheese; thicker semi-sweet wheat crackers and/or granny smith apples and brie; and lots and lots of wine.
What wine? Why, two-buck chuck of course!
And what did my wine-expert father think of that?
He pronounced it “highly drinkable” and told me that I could definitely serve it again “at a casual dinner party” – though I’m not sure if the casual was because he thinks I need to spend a bit more money on wine for a formal one, or if he thinks I’m incapable of throwing a formal one (probably both).
No pictures of the feast to share, sorry (it was devoured to quickly… though I wish I had one of the spread set out on my Marimekko plate, which I loooooove) From there, we headed out to dinner – Turkish food! – the back to the apartment for some birthday “cake” (another fruit tart).
All in all, a successful culinary evening!
